The camp was hosted by the United Front Work Department of the CPC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee and organized by the International College of Guangxi University. International College Party chief Qin Chengqiang presided over the opening ceremony.

Camp members kicked off the ceremony by performing martial arts, poetry reading and singing Chinese songs. Their performance won them warm applause.

Chen noted that the event has achieved fruitful results since it was first held in 2016. She said that international students could promote their understanding about Chinese history, culture and national development through the activities.

Chen encouraged the participants to feel the charm of southern China, see the beautiful landscapes in Guangxi, experience Guangxi’s long-standing ethnic culture and learn about the autonomous region’s balanced and sustainable development in economy, society and ecology.

“Camp members should cherish this opportunity to enhance communication and strengthen friendship. The members are expected to take advantage of the Belt and Road Initiative to build a bridge for friendly exchanges between China and other countries,” she added.

Zha Danming, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of Guangxi University, also spoke at the ceremony. She introduced local conditions and customs as well as the university’s history and achievements. She hoped that international students could promote understanding about China and Guangxi.

“Guangxi University will spare no effort providing convenience and better services for overseas students who will study and live here. I hope that everyone will spend unforgettable days here,” she said.

International College student Nguyen Minh Chau made a speech on behalf of the camp members. She said she was looking forward to experiencing traditional Chinese culture and enjoying beautiful scenery with the other members. She said that the group would treasure the opportunity and enjoy a fruitful trip.

During the 10-day event, the international students will experience diversified traditions and customs in Guangxi and learn about Guangxi’s rapid development through cultural lessons, visits and field trips.
